Simply put GA is the study of human motion. By visually observing a persons gait (locomotion or the way they walk) we can measure the body mechanics of the client’s movement and from this information, we can identify movement – related or postural problems.

How do we measure?

Here at Prima we have a NordicTrac commercial treadmill which we use for clients to walk on at a specific set walking pace. We then either record the activity, playback and discuss it with the client or in some cases adjust the treadmill to a running pace if your goal is to become more efficient at running.

Insoles

Please note we do not sell insoles here at Prima so our goal is not to encourage you to purchase this tool from us. This is not to say we may suggest this as an avenue to explore and we will advise you accordingly.

Conditions identified

GA can identify various conditions such as ‘Foot Slap’, ‘Fallen Arch’, Stride Length and muscle imbalances. We do this by studying various markers applied to the body (eg the knee, pelvis and ankle). This can be useful for identifying subtle biomechanical patterns that may not be present on a static examination and that can lead to running injuries.

Gait analysis is a fantastic tool to accurately measure abnormalities In walking patterns and can help determine the causes of abnormalities during walking. It can provide information to assist clinical decisions about treatment, such as surgery, therapy and orthotics.
