Fibromyalgia

A condition that causes pain all over the body (also referred to as widespread pain), sleep problems, fatigue, and often emotional and mental distress.

Although there’s currently no cure for FM, there are treatments to help relieve some of the symptoms and make the condition easier to live with. One treatment sufferers are turning to is the intervention of Massage.

Massage intervention

Several studies have shown that massage can have a positive short-term effect on mood, pain relief, and improved the overall sense of well-being.

We know from experience that every client that suffers from FM has different effects short and long term of massage, and the type of massage will differ from each person, however through experience and communication with our clients we are confident that the sessions can improve the management for such a frustrating condition.

The NHS strongly recommends exercise as a management intervention and although this doesn’t suit everyone and can also exacerbate the symptoms, most clients agree that the increase of endorphins during exercise has a positive effect on the body. Exercise must be at a moderate level as not to place too much stress on the body and mind and should be overseen by a person specialised in this area.
